Our knowledge to the breed was established early in the year 2000. We where looking for a dog as a pet and was thinking about buying a Saint Bernhard. At the time we lived in an apartment, and we realized that it would not be so great for a Saint Bernhard to live like that, so we started to search for another breed. After buying a big book with a description of all kind of breeds, we finally found out what kind of a dog that played the lead role in the movie "Turner & Hooch" which he had seen in 1989. We had always been fascinated of Hooch in the movie, but never found out what kind of a breed it was. Well, now that we finally found out about the Dogue de Bordeaux, we started a lot of research on the breed, and the conclusion was, of course, that this was a spectacular and wonderful breed, which we just had to get. We decided to buy a pup from Alan and Kerry Bates, owner of Brandoux and Laruscade Kennel in the United Kingdom. Two great people who have given us a lot of help and advice whenever we have needed it. And breeders of real QUALITY .

In September 2000 we travelled to U.K. to pick-up the puppy we had never seen before;  When arriving at the Bates' residence it was love at first sight for all the three of us, I think. Troy was the most charming creature we had ever seen and I'll bet we where the happiest little family united at that moment.

In July 2001 we decided to enter Troy for his first show, just for the fun of it. As told earlier we mainly had him as a pet and we intended to have it like that. But the show was held in our town and we thought it could be interesting to see how it all worked. We had never been to a show before, any of us.  But we have certainly been to shows after the debut on that sunny sunday in July 2001.Troy became BEST OPPOSITE SEX and got a CAC and a GREAT CRITIC. We where bit by the show-mania and now we travel 1000 of miles each year only to go to the shows. But it's really interesting to meet all the different people and dogs and it is a lot of fun. In October 2001 we bought a house in the countryside, and moved from the apartment in the city. We where ready to start breeding this WONDERFUL breed....

We would like to thank everyone who has helped us in best possible way, given us advice and answers to everything we where wondering about and still wonders about...
